Art Contest

We will be participating in the following art contest.  We will be making our posters in class on Friday.  I spoke to the students about the contest and told them to think of an idea they may want to draw.  The following is the link to the information about the contest.

States/Capitals Quiz Friday, August 24

This year in Social Studies, we will be studying our states.  Throughout this year, we will also be studying the state's capital, abbreviation, location, and name.  Next Friday, the 24th we will have our first quiz.  The students have written down the 10 states that they will need to know.  The quiz will consist of a map with only the 10 numbers listed (of the states studied).  Each student will have to write the name of the state, it's capital, and the abbreviation.  For example:  1.  Augusta, Maine  ME.

Welcome Back!

August 13, 2018
Dear Parents,
Welcome back to another exciting school year. I am glad to have the opportunity to teach your child(ren).  This will be a transitional year for many, so please be patient with us as we take on new responsibilities.
Each student has received an assignment book that will be used daily.  I sign the books before the students leave for the day.   I ask that you sign your child(ren)’s assignment book every night.  Also remind your child(ren)  to place their assignment book, homework, and take home folder back in their backpacks.  You can also write in your child(ren)’s  planner if you want them to bring a book or notebook home and I will make sure they have it at the end of the day.
We will have a morning break.  Please send your child(ren) with a healthy snack.  The students can also bring a water bottle that doesn't drip or spill even when dropped or knocked over.
You will be able to access your child(ren)’s  grades the same as last year.  Please make sure your information is up-to-date so I am able to reach you as needed.  I am going to enter grades as I grade each assignment.
If you have a question about anything please do not hesitate to contact me by email jdee@stphilipky.org, calling school, or sending a note.  I will respond to you as soon as possible.  I usually check my email in the evenings.  Therefore if you need to contact me sooner you may want to leave a message at school.   Communication is important in order for our child(ren) to succeed.  If you have concerns don’t hesitate to contact me so we can work out a plan that allows your child to be confident, successful, and happy in their work.  Please read the information on the back about my BLOG.
I am also sending out information on our field trips to the Taft Theater.  Please keep in mind WHO EVER (parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent, etc) signs up MUST be Virtus certified.  No one can be suspended or in the verification process.  You can check the Messenger to see a list of dates if needed.
Once again, I look forward to working with each of you and your children to make this year very successful.  Thank you in advance for your support.

Mrs. Jennifer Dee
